I have always loved searching and finding new music. It's a part of my job that I absolutely cherish, enjoy and look forward to most. After many years of already being a DJ, in 2012 I took on a gig that would completely change how I play, search and truly understand how music affects people's mood and behavior.

After a chance encounter I started djing at NY's Bathtub Gin on a bi-weekly and then a weekly basis. Being able to DJ every week completely elevated my game for controlling the crowd, using different songs to alter mood and being able to understand body language on a whole new level. I truly look back on those years with the fondest of memories.

Spending countless hours searching all the relatively new blogs that were seemingly popping up by the minute was exhilarating. I still remember certain songs from that first year and can easily recall the blog I found them on. Besides the blogs, I was constantly scouring Soundcloud and The Hype Machine to help me find fresh remixes that no one has heard yet. Having the ability to present new songs week after week is something that became a ritual.

The recording below is from one of my Saturday night sets ( I have since migrated to Fridays). It's really one of the first recordings I have made at Bathtub Gin. It happened at this beautiful time of people having the ability to share their songs and online and a community of fans and dj's alike devouring them with the intense desire for something brand new. Seemingly every week there were loads of amazing music coming out. It truly was a remarkable year and I'm happy I was happy to capture it with this short snapshot.
