Layla - An Epic Love Song

At a recent wedding celebration at Paradisus in Riviera Maya Mexico, I had the pleasure of working with a couple who had a deep knowledge and understanding of all different genres of music. One song stood out in particular and that was Layla by Dere & The Dominos. A band started by the legendary Eric Clapton and their most famous song was inspired by his love of George Harrison's then-wife.

In the past week, I must have heard it at least 5 times. Besides being an important part of the wedding soundtrack, I heard it at the airport, my local supermarket, and in an Uber ride. It's as if the song's chorus was beckoning me to keep listening to it over and over again.

When you listen to the song as a whole it brings to life incredible imagery and emotions. When it moves from one part to the next it takes those emotions to a whole other level. I highly recommend listening to this epic poem in musical form as it's certainly one of Eric Clapton's greatest achievements.
